Setting an Attribute Filter
You can filter chart data by the values in an attribute.
To set a filter for an attribute:
Click the filter icon () on the chart or dashboard or select Filters from the chart menu (). The dashboard-level filter icon is available only when all the charts are from the same data source. The Filters sidebar appears showing any filters that have been applied.
Click . Three tabs appear allowing you to select a row-level filter, a group filter, or a saved filter.
Select Row and then select an attribute you want to use from the list. The Filters sidebar then shows three tabs: Value, Wildcard, and Keyset.
Instructions for creating a filter using each of these tabs is described in the following table.
Tab Description Value The Value tab allows you to select a filter value for the attribute. First select Include or Exclude on the Value tab (depending on whether you want to include or exclude a value for the filter) and then select the filter value from the list. To select all values, click Select All. Use the search bar to quickly find a value. Wildcard
The Wildcard tab allows you to specify a wild card filter for the attribute. Select an operator for the wild card filter from the drop-down menu for the Operator box on the tab. Possible operators are Contains, Does Not Contain, Begins With, Does Not Begin With, Ends With, and Does Not End With. By default, Contains is selected.
Then type a string of characters that represents the wild card string for the filter in the Value box. Data is included in the chart when the data in the filter field meets the condition set by this operator and the wild card string you specify.
By default the Case Sensitive slider is on (selected). When this option is selected, the wild card filter includes data in the chart only if the filter attribute data exactly matches both the value of the wild card string and the case of the wild card string value. Slide the option off if you do not care if the chart data exactly matches the case of the wild card string.
Keyset The Keyset tab allows you to select a key set filter for the attribute. See Using Keysets for instructions on using key sets in a filter.
After the filter specifics have been specified, click . If you create the filter at the dashboard level, it is applied to all the charts in the dashboard. Otherwise, it is applied only to the selected (active) chart.
