Connector Changes

Authorization Changes

The following changes have been made in the area of user authorization:

  • The zoomdata scheduler user has been removed and is no longer used for scheduled data source refreshes. Instead, the controls for scheduled data source refreshes are now set in the connection definitions used by Zoomdata to connect to your data stores.

  • This release introduces a new privilege for users in a group called Can Manage Connections. This privilege lets group members add, modify, or remove data store connection definitions. See Group Privilege Reference.

A user without the Can Manage Connection privilege cannot add a data source configuration to Zoomdata if data store connections have not previously been defined.

Data Store Connection Definition Changes

The following changes were made to how data store connections can be defined.

  • The Manage Connections button on the Data Sources page now only appears if you are logged on as an administrator or as a user with the group privilege Can Manage Connections. In addition, the Connections page in the UI is only available if you are logged on as an administrator or as a user with the group privilege Can Manage Connections. See Managing Data Store Connections.

  • If you are logged into Zoomdata as a user who can maintain data source configurations but cannot maintain connection definitions (your group privileges include Can Create new Data Sources, but not Can Manage Connections), you now select the connection definition for a data source configuration on the General tab of the data source configuration wizard.

A user without the Can Manage Connection privilege cannot add a data source configuration to Zoomdata if data store connections have not previously been defined.

The Connection tab in the data source configuration wizard is only available for you to use if you have the Can Manage Connections privilege. See General Tab and Connection Tab.

  • You can now add override settings to a data store connection definition for use when special credentials are required for Zoomdata to refresh the data as requested by a data source. A new button has been added to connection definition screens in the UI. See Adding Data Store Connections and Connection Tab.

Data Source Import Changes

If you are logged into Zoomdata as a user who can maintain data source configurations but cannot maintain connection definitions (your group privileges include Can Create new Data Sources, but not Can Manage Connections), the following data source import behavior has changed:

  • If the data store connection used by the data source has already been defined to the Zoomdata instance, the data source is successfully imported.

  • If the data store connection used by the data source has not previously been defined to the Zoomdata instance, the data source is not imported and an error message displays because your user account does not have authorization to create data store connections.

See Importing a Data Source Configuration.

Dashboard Import Changes

If you are logged into Zoomdata as a user who can maintain data source configurations but cannot maintain connection definitions (your group privileges include Can Create new Data Sources, but not Can Manage Connections), the following dashboard import behavior has changed:

  • If the data store connections used by the data sources in the dashboard charts have already been defined to the Zoomdata instance, the dashboard is successfully imported.

  • If the data store connections used by the data sources in the dashboard charts have not previously been defined to the Zoomdata instance, the dashboard is not imported and an error message displays because your user account does not have authorization to create data store connections.

See Importing a Dashboard.

Chart Updates

The following chart updates were made in this release:

  • Heat maps were updated in this release and now render using the latest version of the ECharts library. The following related updates were made to heat maps in this release.

    • The labels for heat map axes have been changed to Rows and Columns. In prior releases, they were Group 1 and Group 2.

    • In prior releases, the values on the X and Y axes automatically switched based on the number of values in the grouped data. (The group with the most values was always placed on the X axis, so when data grouping changed the number of values, the data shown on the two axes would switch). With this version, this no longer occurs. Your assignments for row and column data are now retained until you change them.

    • Tool tips have been added to the axis labels. This ensures that you can read the entire label, when it is very long.

    • If live mode or playback mode are on, heat maps no longer blink.

For more information about heat maps, see Heat Maps.

  • The pie chart type was updated in this release and now renders using the latest version of the ECharts library. For more information about pie charts, see Pie Charts.

  • The donut chart type was updated in this release and now renders using the latest version of the ECharts library. For more information about donut charts, see Donut Charts.
